K9 tracking and trailing are all we do here at GAK9-Idaho. Whether you have a Patrol-trained K9, MPC, or Tracking/Trailing specific trained K9 we cater our classes to each dog team’s individual needs. Our tried and true tracking/trailing basic foundation teaches handlers to instill drive and focus, overcome distractions, and scent discriminate. We believe this is the absolute foundation for successful trailing.
Our step-by-step techniques teach K9s the target scent equals that scent trail, which leads to the target where the K9 is given its “paycheck” in the form of a REWARD! The best K9s use this solid foundation and then grow through self-discovery in a tiered exposure.
At GAK9-Idaho, we teach handlers to read their K9 trailing indicators and work together as a team to follow specific human scent trail trails to locate the target scent. We train all handle on rs our basic tracking/trailing foundation that is designed to take K9 teams to the highest level.
We specialize in Law Enforcement and Military classes that also incorporate the foundation for tactics and proximity alerts that will be used in the intermediate and advanced classes. Our LE student handlers know that a safe track/trail that leads to an arrest is only half the battle, so we also give you the tools for a successful prosecution.
Our SAR-specific classes are provided the same K9 tracking/trailing foundation and building blocks to use for successful SAR missions. At GAK-Idaho we believe that Tracking/Trailing is without exception the hardest K9 discipline, we do not subscribe to fantasies, we honestly evaluate through double-blind testing, and provide each handler team with our decades of experience and tools that have been used by successful K9 tracking/trailing teams around the world.
We can host individuals or teams of up to 8-10 at our facility here in Ashton ID or travel to your location. GAK-Idaho is a proud partner with GAK9.com and Kevin Baughn has been working with Jeff Schettler CEO of GAK9 since 1999.
